Have you tried "yesterday's news" kitty litter?? It's not clumping, but it isn't very dusty. It's made from recycled newspapers. I know clumping is the most conveinent way to go, but this may help you..maybe it's the "sand" you are allergic to. Does kitty go outside??? If he/she does, you can train her to go outside to use the abode...great for your garden (free fertilizer!!!).

I have my cat box in the basement for obvious reasons..(4 cats can make one stinky cat-box...I must clean it 2x a day!).

If you're REALLY adventurous, I know there are videos/books out there that say you can train the cat to use the toilet!!!! Really...!!!!! Can't imagine it myself, with a teenage daughter and 4 cats, I would NEVER get to use either bathroom in my house!
