Thanks heidi2, your words bring much comfort. I had my first panic attack about 5 years ago and have had on-going stress symptoms ever since. I have always been a high strung perfectionist type of person. I worried all the time - fear ruled my life. I was even afraid to enjoy things too much -always tempering my joy with some harsh evil thing that could happen. At the moment I don't feel all stressed out or panicy anymore but the Insomnia seems here to stay. Right now Im taking maybe .25mg of xanax every other night if I don't sleep by 3am. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Took .50mg last night - I might as well have popped a no-doz pill. My nightly sleep time is something like this. 3hrs, 0 hrs, 4hrs, 1hr, 2hr....took some benedril and slept 6 1/2 hrs the other night - thought I was in heaven. How long have you been battling this monster?
