SSRI type anti-depressants like Paxil and Zoloft can cause insomnia with most people. Ambien and Restoril didn't help me much either.
Do you think you are depressed or could the insomnia be anxiety based? I have recently found that the benzodiazepines drugs are great for sleeping problems and I also had some luck with Trazodone (the most sedating anti-depressant)..
I freaked out every time I went to the doctor saying "need something else, this one didn't work." Good luck.
