Being "gentle" with myself

Posted by Grace on January 27, 2003 at 13:38:27:

Hi: My insomnia is 10 yrs in progress. In the last two years it has been more severe due to stress. I am fortunate to have just taken a medical leave to work on this issue. This is week two. I have kept a log. Still taking 5-10 mg of ambien every night. I see in my log some habitual wine drinking. Only two evenings WITHOUT a glass or two (or three) of wine. So I want to eliminate it. I also want to wean myself off the ambien. Your experiences would be a valuable reference for me. I am under a doctor's care.
I am considering stopping the ambien cold turkey since I am not working and seeing how that goes. I am also considering no alcohol. I don't want to set myself up for failure in either case. I am so glad to have found this site. Thank you in advance for your responses.
Grace
