As you can see on this forum, many of us can relate to your insomnia experience. How long is your medical leave? You might consider trying sleep restriction and good sleep hygience during your leave because not having to worry about functioning at work would be a positive while doing that process. If you aren't already familiar with sleep restriction, you can either read about it on previous posts here or in the books often recommended here--Desperately Seekin' Snoozin and Say Goodnight to Insomnia. That approach has helped a lot of folks on this form, myself included.

My insomnia is also at least in part due to stress and anxiety. This may seem obvious, but have you done everything possible to make your life enjoyable and manageable? I have had to continually work at accepting that what other people do in their lives is not what works well for me and then go about creating a life that DOES work. For me, that is things like fulfilling work (but not too much of it), the right balance of time with others and alone time, a generally UNhurried lifestyle, regular physical exercise and time outdoors, creative endeavors, etc.

Good luck to you. Hope you can find a way that works for you to get the rest you need.
