Lisa, You might want to take some baby steps in cutting the klonopin. It is after all a benzo and for some people (everyone's wired differently) they can have a rough time discontinuing the drug.

I would suggest cutting it in quarters and reducing it by 1/4 rather then 1/2. Wait a week and see how you feel and then you can cut again accordingly. You've been on it for 10 years and so if it takes you a little longer....no big deal. It's not a race and the goal is to get off it with the least amount of discomfort. If you find yourself in major w/d's you can always re-instate and then make smaller cuts.

To answer your question, I don't know if the klonopin is helping your sleep. The only way to find out is to eliminate it and see what happens. the only drug you use that I have personal experience with is remeron. It worked at the low doses for a couple of months and then quit. Fortunately I've been off all meds for 7 months now and my sleep is slowely starting to improve.

I don't know how you can do SR while on meds. How does one know if it's the meds or the SR that's working ? I don't do SR but I do practice good sleep hygene and usually go to sleep at the same time every night. Since I drive my kids to school evryday when i'm in town, I pretty much get out of bed the same time every day. i guess you can say I practice quasi-SR.

hang in there. I know how tough it can be.
