Hi Hope!

I think I may want to look into some detox. I'll have to go back and read some of your previous posts.

I had never even considered that as a possible part of my situation, but something has come up that I hadn't thought through enough to write in yet.

I guess all kinds of things are popping up - childhood issues I never thought I had and so on - and to think that until a couple years ago I thought I was really "normal!" You guys are all going to think I'm really weird!

I recently talked with a friend I knew as a child. She was catching me up on the news of everyone else we grew up with. We are all in our mid-thirties, and more than half of us have really strange and serious health problems. All of us went to the same church, and most of us lived in a 4 block radius from the church.

I have Ulcerative Colitis which is an autoimmune disorder (along with my extremely atypical response to meds) - so does another person in our group. Two of us have brain tumors. One has had a stroke. One has inoperable pancreatic cancer and is having her life prolonged by chemo. One of us has fibromyalgia. Another has a strange thing that seems to be an autoimmune disorder but is not yet diagnosed, and so on.

For many of us these problems started in our twenties. None of the "kids" just older or just younger than us has any problems of these types, so it seems that perhaps something happened to us at a significant stage in our development. Of course, it could just be one huge coincidence since it is not like we all have leukemia or something.

There was a large manufacturer in that town, and it has recently come to my attention that there was a ground water pollution problem with them for some years, but I haven't heard details. I am trying to find out how to find out.

Anyway, like I said, anyone out there reading this is probably thinking I am either really strange or making this stuff up. Actually, I am just searching for answers. It seems that all my issues - depression, life-long insomnia, atypical response to meds, ulcerative colitis - are somehow parts of a whole.

From your experience with detoxing, does anything I've listed sound like anything you've heard of?

Thanks!!

Heidi
