Dear Heidi....Nothing you say sounds strange or impossible. There have been many hot spots that I have heard of where a group in small radius of an area have all come down with dreadful diseases. Later they have found ecological or environmental problems with the water, or some bacterial problem, or chemical contamination. Remember there was an area in upstate New York near the Canadian border where many people died from pollution to the water.I would not take this lightly, if so many of your friends in your age bracket are sick. That sounds unusual. At the same time I would not take this as the final answer yet, without researching it thouroughly. I would contact groups that support and protect the environment and tell them about your suspicions.Look up to see if there was a major oil spill in the area. I come from an area in N.Y.where they have found a high rate of breast cancer in woman, I think the highest in the country.. This is an area that used to be old farms which probably used multiple pesticides in the ground before they built commercial and residential homesites. There is also a tremendous output of diesel fuels from several airports being in the area. I have always felt that chemicals have a definite effect on health and are neurotoxic. My problem with insomnia was a result of many years of using heavy chemicals from art supplies. It became intense right after I cleaned up a mercury thermometer. From that time on I couldn't sleep. Before you go this route you should definitely check out to see if you do in fact have an overabundance of heavy metals in your body.It would be worth it for you because you have so many physical problems as well. If you have collitis than I think there is a direct corrolation for you. Because of the collitis your body may not able to absorb nutrients and you may have a malabsorption problem. To sleep properly you need to absorb and assimilate the nutrients necessary to transmit sleep. On top of that if you do have heavy metals they interfere with digestion and absorption. Before I detoxified I had tests for amino acids and I literally had no amino acids in my body. Metals or chemicals interfere with enzyme and hormonal production, so they can be an incredible nuisance in your body.See if you can find an alternative doctor. My doctor is an internist that practices both alopathically and alternatively, but he will try to locate the problem and get rid of it naturally if possible.
Well I gave you a little food for thought . Maybe you can find the answers you are looking for.It seems you will have to work from all angles being that you have physical problem as well as the nervous system problems.Perhaps you can try to heal yourself through complete and total relaxation of your body and mind through yoga , meditation, and self hypnosis.I guess we all have to get to the bottom of the problem individually but it is good to have some assistance. Take care and be well...Hope
