Hi -

thanks for your replies. I may have pinned down one of the sources of stuff making my insomnia worse -

NADH. I was taking this daily (10mg) because it was helping with my energy in the day, and this is what the packet said. Doh. I have done a lot of research on this stuff, and apparently it can cause insomnia and restlessness if taken at this quantity day after day.

It may be coincidencial that I started taking this at the same time I switched brands on St Johns Wort.

So I have come off this straight away today. Last night was horrible - I took the Midazolam after a couple of hours of trying without, which then wore off only 3 HOURS later. I have only taken this stuff twice and I can't believe my tolerance could be built up THAT quickly.

I was wide awake, and then had one of the worst panic attacks of my whole life. I just couldn't calm myself down. If there had been a cliff nearby I would have thrown myself off it. Luckily my husband is an astronomer and was working nights up the mountain, so I was able to phone him and he talked me through it. I have never been in so much 'physiological pain' like that before. I try not to think this, but 'what if the same happens tonight'? This place I am in is horrible.

I think I am completely screwed.

Loops.
