Sleep restriction and meds

Posted by Anne on April 30, 2003 at 14:02:53:

Is it ideal to go off the medications before trying sleep restriction so that you can see what is working and if it is working?I am getting sick of the weight gain on the med I take and am eager to get rid of it, but not if it will cause even less sleep. (I have only slept 3 hours total in the last 3 days!) Maybe taking an ofter the counter med would be better? Or none at all? ANother question I had was is there w/drawals to coming off elavil? My doctor said that it is out of your system the next day so I could adjust my med daily and go off if I want without a wean. I thought I read something else different somewhere. Just wondering what others have heard? thanks
