Anne - Your doctor is wrong. There is withdrawal coming off of Elavil. You can't just stop cold turkey but have to decrease the dose slowly over a period of time to minimize the symptoms of withdrawal. I know this from experience. Depending on how high a dose and how long you have been on the Elavil will determine how you come off of it. Elie
