Dj...Your theory sounds very good, and I wish it was as simple as just eating certain foods, and refraining from others. Unfortunately, there is a whole arena that you have not touched upon, and that is the interference in the body from absorption and asssimilation of the so needed nutrients in proper proportions. There are many things in the body that inhibit proper digestion and neurotransmisson of sleep. Medical prescriptions, heavy metals, lack of enzymes and the ability to obtain more, difficulty of tryptophan uptake in the brain, lack of hydrocholic acid which interferes with amino acid uptake, too alkaline a body, too acidic a body, and a host more of problems which can interfere with our best interests. If you hang around long enough with insomnia and really get serious you can eventually get to some point where you can help yourself and maintain sleep. But i t is not easy for those where anxiety and depression are not the culprits. I after nine years am sleeping o.k. alot of the time but still many nights I am unable to fall asleep and cannot figure out why whatsoever. I have gone the whole nine yards and have accepted that I may have this touchy sleep for a long time, and have no other recourse but to deal with it as best I can..So your idea is great, and I have often posted about foods that are high in tryptopan also but there is alot more to it than that. By the way you need tryptopan to make Niacin in the body, so why use it up, just take a little niacin daily....Best of luck to you..Hope
