Posted by LenEll on June 02, 1999 at 09:31:14:I am having a difficult time relaying the impact my insomnia has on my mental and physical health to my significant other. His perception seems to be that I am just having trouble sleeping and why should he be bothered with it. I think it would be easier to deal with my insomnia/sleep debt if I had some support from him. I am not asking him to keep a night vigil but sometimes if he could get up and talk to me for a little while, or help me feel more comfortable so that perhaps I have a chance at sleep. One morning I was up with very little sleep (for a week) and was so tired that I ended up burning my hand severely trying to make chamomile tea - lying on the couch with your hand in a bowl of ice just isn't conducive to sleep. Am I asking to much of him? He has no trouble with sleep and can function well on 7 hrs. Sometimes I am so desperate for sleep that it seems that any little thing would help.
