Dear Dee..Calm down.....You have not been on Xanax that long but you still have to take precautions not to taper too quickly or you may get a few withdrawal symptoms. I took Xanax for two years- .5- 1mg. nighly for sleep. The first time I tried to go cold turkey and had horrible withdrawal symptoms, but the second time I tapered very gradually over a few months and I had vey mild symptoms. There is a website called benzo. org which will tell you the protocol for withdrawal from benzos. Since you have not been on it that long your protocol sounds fine, although at the end I would break the pill into quarters and keep tapering on the smallest dose for about two weeks or more. This way you will practically have removed most of the medication from your body. Drink alot of water and eat nutritiously while you are undergoing this , so that you will keep your body as healthy as possible...I hope you have good luck... Don't worry you will be fine.......Regards, Hope
