The reason I suspected hormones was that I noticed more difficulty sleeping (as well as other symptoms) just before my cycle. I started doing some research on the internet, and came across a book by Dr. John Lee called "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause". I checked it out at the library, and was amazed at the host of problems associated with low progesterone (and therefore unopposed estrogen). It is quite common in women beginning in their mid to late 30's (I'm 39 now). So I decided to give it a try, and as I said it's really helped with the PMS-type symptoms. I can't say it's cured my insomnia, because a lot of it is anxiety-based. But it has certainly helped, and if I forget to use it (like I did this month) I definitely notice the difference! Read up on it yourself and see what you think. It's certainly worth a try!
