Try doing them earlier in the day. When you are tired, I have found that exercise, especially aerobic exercise that gets your heart rate up, can keep your heart rate up much longer than 2-3 hours after IF you are tired from lack of sleep. Also if swimming, try swimming at a more relaxed rate getting the physical benefit without increasing your heart rate too much. When you don't sleep well you want to avoid raising your heart rate too much as your heart is not getting enough rest and suffers greatly. Your arm and leg muscles rebuild themselves just by lying around and resting.
