I guess what I am saying is that no one should
feel "ashamed" for having to resort to meds.
Many people are!! I have seen and spoken to
people that live by an "ethic" and say "I take no pills of any sort." :-] The reason for our increased lifespan is due mostly to advances in medicine. I believe in it. Addiction is a big fear when we speak of a drug like Xanax. Like I said a 1 mg dose is what I have been taking for 11 years. Never less and seldom more. I am dependant on Elavil and Xanax to help control my
life. Without it I think I would probably be dead. Anyhow I would not be enjoying my retired years. Believe me, I am very active. I fish
in Alaska every year for 1 week, hunting season starts here on Nov. 1, and I am an avid chess
player. I play internationally on the net and in clubs. Thus my name, MadKnight. I have tried
many differnt drugs but none have worked for me as has my present "cocktail." I have an aunt with very high choleterol who refuses to take
Zocor because of the "side effects." She has been treating her high cholesterol "naturally" for years but it is still around 300. She is 74 now, so probably she is ok as far as heart attack or strokes but for me the Zocor is "life saving". I had one major heart attack and do not need another. Just an example of dependancy. I have tried Zoloft and for me it was not good. I found a doctor about 11 years ago that listened to me and trusted me enough to prescribe and keep prescribing a med [Xanax] that does great for me. Yes, we are all different. Yes, we will all die someday but for me I would rather that be a long way down the road. :-]
