I agree with you 100%. Sleep, for most people, is a natural occurence. For some people it is
not. When I say it is not I mean, that person's
body is crying out for sleep but the mind is still up and running. I have tried many different things including psychotherapy, meditation, aroma therapy, herbal teas etc. etc.
I think my psychotherapist went bananas. How do you meditate while still thinking about work? The aroma therapy and herbal teas were nice. None of that worked for me. I just thought to myself that was how I had to live. My heart attack was my lifesaver. That was when my full attention was caught and I found a family doctor that hit the nail on the head. Genaralized Anxiety Disorder [GAD]. I was not depressed
but I do have anxiety. Long ago people like me were called "hyper." I was given Elavil because of it's sedative effects. I now take 75mg along with the 1mg Xanax about 2 hours before bed. Some people ask "Doesn't that make you feel drugged the next day?" It did at first and I really cannot remember for how long but I have not felt drugged for a very long while and I have not felt this good since my son
left home. :-] Also, I do not think my anxiety is the result of insomnia or my insomnia is the
result of anxiety. I think that they are both part of a circle. Where one leaves off the other begins. The meds break that circle,
FOR ME. As far as pregnant women etc. that is where a good, competant doctor comes in. There should be a trust and a bond between patient and doctor in that the doctor listens to you and you trust in him/her to do right by you.
