buddhism is the most beautiful way to look at life. after my insomnia hit and my life changed forever, i began studying it. it relaxed me like nothing else. acceptance comes from within, deep within. its a real healer. i also love ram dass. his book Still Here is amazing. he too was an insomniac, so he says! ram dass talks about how to change your perspective of your suffering. he says look at it like your carrying it (insomnia) for all those who also suffer from it. its like me getting to know you all, i can say to myself now that if you all have to go through it then so can i. its a way to find strength through hard times. we are all spiritual beings having a physical experience and this challenge is no different from any other major challenge in life. some folks though have greater challenges than others.

take 2 joes for instance and say that both of these guys lived and experienced the same trials of life but one joe suffered from insomnia and the other slept comfortably. who is the more experienced soul? the joe who sleeps doesnt know what it feels like to suffer in that way. he didnt have to look deep within himself to find the strength to get through the day feeling weak and cloudy. the joe who dealt with sleeping difficulties knew more about the delicate side of life. he was reminded daily of the impermenance of it. he learned to value mornings when he slept better than usual, etc.... if you had a personal problem to discuss, which joe would you go to? which joe would be more understanding of hard times?

again i may sound hokey to some but these are just different ways to look at a situation. since the beginning, man has had to endure many levels of suffering. it can crush you, but with acceptance and faith, it can only make you stronger.

yea im a tree hugger ;)
