i was on the lowest dose of klonopin and they told me i would have no trouble taking it every other night, then every third night, but i did have a lot of trouble and ended up taking trazodone. the klon. wasn't working any more (after 4 months). i would stay awake all night long. my sleep patterns were all over the place. mostly had trouble falling asleep, but also for a few months had trouble waking up during the night as well. often i would get in the pattern of sleeping only every other night. that's why i think the sr helped me cuz it evened things out.

i do believe you have to be strict about getting up if you can't sleep, especially if you are feeling anxious or frustrated in your bed. don't look at a clock tho, just guess when it's been about 20-30 minutes. and don't be looking at a clock when you're out of bed either. keep the lights dim, don't get on the computer. i found reading a book with a little light to be the best. i would lay on the couch with a warm blanket and my dog to keep me company. it was the loneliest i've ever felt.

i was not severe with the sleep restriction. started at about 6 hours and gradually increased it. getting up at same time 7 days a week was very important. i still do that. now i sleep about 8 hours, altho on weekends its often less if we go out. still get up at 7 next day.
