Posted by disidente on December 15, 2003 at 07:19:48:I've been trying to give up all sleep drugs but i find this hard to do
in the case of ativan. I've been taking it maybe once every 5 days
or so. i've apparently gained more of a tolerance for it since it
now takes 1.5 mg to do anything for me, up from 1 mg before.i find that as each day passes after the night i took ativan,
i sleep less and less. I'm doing SRT and go to bed
aound midnite. i have two alarms, one set for 6:30 and
one at 6:45. I get up with the second alarm. so it's about
6 hours and 45 minutes in bed. last nite i only got
2 or 3 hours of low-level sleep, intermittent dozing,
tho with some dreams. the night after the night with
ativan i sleep approximately from 1 to 5, so four hours.
so it seems that the sleep diminishes each night
after the night i took the ativan. what happens is
that my circulatory system becomes more agitated, it seems.
i can feel my blood pounding. and by the third night
i can feel sort of low level tremoring or tension.
i try to do breathing exercizes but it becomes less
effective as this blood pounding and tension
becomes more pronounced, presumably due to
accumulated lack of sleep.so i'm not sure what i should do here. keep taking
the ativan? as long as i'm in this cycle i make
no progress. i've been trying the SR technique
but no sign of improvement yet. should i just
stop taking the ativan and see if i can make
improvement without it? try to break the
cycle that way?disidente
