I took elavil for occasional use only. Because my main problem is waking up and not being able to go back to sleep, I do not know if I need help until later in the night and elavil is not good for that. I was drowsy all day. I did not take it long enough to gain weight. With occasional use and a exercise diet program, perhaps it can be controlled. I took imprimine for a week and it did nothing for me.
