I've tried everything!

Posted by Molly on February 23, 2004 at 18:42:17:

hi!!! I’m 14 and I’ve NEVER been able to sleep my whole life. Even when I was real young…like in elementary school I only got about half the sleep as everyone else my age. It’s just been something I accepted about myself…not being able to sleep. Lately though, it’s gotten way worse. Especially since I started high school. I’ve been going on about 2 or 3 hours of sleep every night for whole school weeks, and then sometimes I can get some real sleep on the weekends but not always. I can’t concentrate at school (not that I’ve ever really been able to) and no matter what I do nothing helps! I’ve tried prescription medications (sonata and ambien) and neither worked for me. My body just doesn’t take it. I’ve been to my doctor and he says I could (but it’s unlikely) have a thyroid problem. I had a blood test for this before though (but like 9 years ago). When I took the test on this site about what kind of sleeping problem I had it just said insomnia…wow…like that helps…I know I have insomnia! Of course I have insomnia…all that means is I can’t sleep. Does anyone have any idea of things to do before bed that will help me fall asleep or something? I’ll try anything! I’m really desperate. Thanks!
