Get some help with the thinking!

Posted by Steveo on February 24, 2004 at 10:18:52:

hello All!

I have'nt posted on here for a while and heres the reason why:
I think that coming on to the forums and reading everyone elses bad stories of insomnia & the difficulties they are having, does absolutley nothing but make you more nervous & anxious about the whole thing!
I'm not saying that it is'nt here with wery good intentions, and I know people are just trying to help out or find solutions to their problem. But from personal experience all that reading the different posts did for me, was to get me more worked up and upset about it!

I'am certainly not rid of this bloody annoying affliction yet but I'm perfectly aware that it is caused by nothing more than negative, anxious & obsessive thinking. Something which is most definitly not going to be made better by taking in everyone elses problems too.

I have just started to see a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
and would urge anyone on here who is still having on going problems , to seriously look into it.
The basis of the work they do is to eventually get you genuinly thinking in a different light about the whole sleep/insomnia thing. Therefore lowering your anxiety about it and (hopefully-fingers crossed!) sleeping better.

I hope I havent offended anyone, that was'nt my intention. But anything that helps lower the focus and anxiety about insomnia is a step in the right direction.

Take care & goodluck to everyone - steveo!
