You should not be staying in bed for hours without sleeping. You need to get up after a half hour and start reading until you get drowsy. If I can not sleep, I try to meditate for twenty minutes and then get up if I have not fallen back to sleep. I do not try to sleep--I try to have a good meditation. If I sleep--so much the better. Have you tried sleep restriction? Sleep recovery is a campaign, not a battle. Every little bit helps. Review your habits closely.
