I think part of the issue is exactly what you've stated, if you have an anxious and obsessive nature, then poring over postings about sleeping difficulties can exacerbate the anxiety, especially when insomnia is a new thing to you and when you are in the throes of a bad patch.

I will say though, that over time you will probably be able to put bad cycles in better perspective and not get as worked up over them.

The other thing is that reading something negative into this website or the postings I believe is more rooted in one's own negative or obsessive mind set than anything else.

My point is that I think this posting list is incredibly helpful for many, many people that suffer from insomnia on a recurring, ongoing or transitory basis. For one thing, you get to know that you're not unique or crazy and there are other people just like you.

I think at some point you recognize that insomnia is a part of you and probably will always be a part of your life. That in itself can remove a layer of anxiety. For the majority of anxiety rooted insomniacs, I don't think there's any quick fix and certainly don't believe there is a cure. But it shouldn't slow down your life any or cause you to compromise goals or expectations.
