Sudden Jerk When Falkling Asleep

Posted by Whalensdad on February 27, 2004 at 06:51:16:

Over the last few nights, just as I drift off to sleep, my body makes a sudden jerk which wakes me up. I have not been able to fall asleep due to this.

Last year I was put on Xanax for anxiety, and I had the same sort of feeling when I stopped taking the Xanax (withdrawals from the benzo). I have been off of the Xanax or any other anxiety medication for 3 months. I feel anxious at night, although I am not having full fledge panic attacks, which is why I started taking the Xanax in the first place. I have some left over Xanax, but I am extremely hesitant to take one since I had such a horrible time with the withdrawal symptoms the first time around.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing the sudden jerk, and what I can do to get some sleep?

Thanks,
Lee
