3 weeks odd of normal sleep, bedtime of around 9pm-11pm wake up
automatically without need for an alarm between 6-9am feeling fully rested and the general contentness after a good nights sleep.
This is always followed by a longer period of going to bed anywhere from 2am-7am sleeping much longer (10+ hours) and waking up feeling tired, sluggish and pretty much not rested at all.
The transition from A to B occurs when for whatever reason I stay up later than the previous night, say 11pm followed by 12am the night after. After such an extension it becomes absolutely impossible for me to fall asleep before the new time of 12am. So after a couple of nights a healthy 11pm bedtime turns into a 4am bedtime and I have entered my crap cycle. The transition back to A happens when I eventually manage to stay awake for 48 hours fighting extreme fatigue and effectively let myself pass out at 9pm or whatever.
Its not that easy though as it takes days of very poor restless sleep for me to finally settle into my proper A cycle.
The problem is that I cant take this drastic measure immediatly after I enter my bad cycle, I have to endure it for a good month before my brain will let me change back.Ive been living like this for years and it never really bothered me before as I was a student and it didnt matter if I stayed in bed all day. Im not anymore though and its making the 9-5 worklife quite difficult for me. Ive tried non presciption sleeping drugs and a few placebo's but to say that sort of thing has 0 effect on me is an understatement.
I realise my problem isnt close to what alot of other people here are going through, but when Ive got that important meeting at 9am and Im still tossing and turning in bed my mind racing with boredom at 6am having actually gotten into bed 6 hours earlier I know how you feel!
