I suppose everyone is different, but for me, klonopin worked great at first but then stopped working at 1 mg. I didn't want to increase it further, so I weaned off it at that point. I found it very difficult to wean off--my anxiety was worse than before.

I don't mean to scare you, because I am sure there are people who take it for years and are ok. I took it nightly for about 4 months, although it wasn't helping me sleep for the last couple months.

Ask your doctor what he plans for you. Does he expect you to eventually wean off it or go to another drug? Most reputable sleep doctors will tell you it is only a short term solution.
