Posted by Gadgirl on June 08, 2004 at 17:36:09:Well, I have been taking trazodone now for two weeks and increased my dose to 50 mg. I actually slept for a few nights without taking Ambien (which was the idea). Anyway, last night, I started thinking about the what ifs, and the next thing I knew I couldn't fall asleep. So, you guessed it, I had to resort to 1/2 ambien again. I was so relieved to not take it for a while, and now am convinced that it is me, not the meds that allows or doesn't allow me to sleep. If it was the trazodone alone, I should be sleeping everynight since it had worked initially. So, I feel like I'm back where I started. However, the trazodone does help to take the edge off of the worrying, obsessing and the anxiety regarding not sleeping. I feel better today than I did a month ago, but would still like to sleep naturally again without meds. I would like to try CBT as an alternative. What little I know about SR scares me. Don't like the idea of not sleeping or restricting sleep. I don't sleep well as it is. Any help is, as always, appreciated.
