Why can't I sleep?

Posted by pumpkin27 on June 08, 2004 at 22:25:29:

I have had trouble sleeping ever since I can remember. Recently, my mom told me that when I was younger I used to have night tremors. I haven't had one in years, but recently my sleeping problem has gotten worst. I am very paranoid about people breaking into my house, and doing bad things and I think that is the main reason I cannot fall asleep. I know that is a problem, but I have talked to many people who are in similar situations. My mom insists that I have a sleeping disorder.. but I think she is wrong, and I keep putting off talking to a doctor. I know everyone has certain fears, but mine seem to be taking control of my sleep! I am 17 and will be going to college this fall, and in order to fall asleep, my mom has to lay down with me. I don't think my problem is bad enough for medication... but I was hoping maybe someone had been in a similar situation and might be able to give me some advice. Well, thanks. :)
