Waking up and not being able to go back to sleep at all or for one to three hours was a phase of my insomnia. Early morning awakings are sometimes a sign of depression. I went through that phase too and I was not depressed. If you read some of Chris 2's post, you will see he went through many phases, like another chapter of a book.

Anchoring is having the same time of going to bed and getting up. Since I waited to go to sleep until I was drowsy, I could not fall asleep at the same time but I would also start my wind down and sleep ritual at the same time. I did also get up at the same time. That is anchoring. You are training your body that if it wants to sleep, it must sleep during those hours. The body puts up quite a fight. See zzz's post of Sept 2 2004.
