well, for about 10 days straight i stuck to
the 5.5 hours in bed, up at 6 AM routine.
but then i had to go out of town to
a conference, and that threw everything off.
i consinuted the same sleep pattern in the hotel
but some days i didn't get up at 6AM.
i'm back to square one tonite. i've generally
been utterly exhausted, sleeping about 3.5
to 4 hours a night. i don't have (much)
sleep onset insomnia, and i sleep reasonably well, maybe a bit better than before, for the first
few hours. But i wake up around 3:30 or 4,
and can't get back to sleep, or maybe just
to doze a bit before the alarm goes off.
I think i need to do it consistently
for a long enough period of time to
get over the sleep maintenance insomnia.
i've not yet given it a long enough test
to say it won't work, i think.
