Tom,

I'm sorry to hear that. I had been wondering about your progress. I recall that you have been consulting with a sleep speciality in Stanford. Hopefully, a trained professional can help you get over the hump.

Are you able to stay awake until midnight or do you find yourself dozing off? I used to find that dozing off prior to my bed time would sometimes take away from my momentum. Also, if I recall correctly, it is the initial part of your sleep where you are likely to go into deep sleep. Dozing off may take some of the momentum away from deep sleep as well.

Otherwise, hang in there. It took me over 6 weeks to sleep 4.5 hrs/night consistently. And remember, the skills you use to fall asleep initially are the same skills you use to fall back asleep. You've proven to yourself that you can fall asleep every night. You just need to have faith that through practice, you will again become quite able to fall back asleep if you wake up too early.
