Ambien is a very short-acting med, so it should be out of your system in 8-10 hours. However, you can experience rebound insomnia for a longer period of time. I took it almost nightly for a year and a half, and in my experience the "rebound" effect never lasted more than 3 or 4 days. Now that I don't take it, I sleep and feel SO much better! So hang in there, it's probably almost over. Try to keep a regular sleep schedule, do something relaxing about an hour before bed, don't look at the clock at night, and make sure you eat nutritiously and get some exercise every day. You'll be feeling better in no time!
