I understand that your body slows down at night right before bedtime. It also slows down between 7-9 hours after your regular wake up time. I think this has a lot to do with notion of "siestas" in some societies. If you intend on trying to nap during the day, try to schedule it in this time frame.

During the other times of the day, your body sends out arousal signals which make naps less likely.
