A question for Tom-N-Texas

Posted by Seeking sleep on January 24, 2005 at 07:30:24:

Hi Tom -

I've read many of your postings and I'm new so this place. I had my first bout of insomnia 3 years ago and have had 3 major episodes in my life. You know how it goes, one bad episode and then you start fearing the fear. Can you tell me if once you're an insomniac, are you always an insomniac? Is there hope that one day I'll never think about sleep again? I have one child and my husband and I would love another one and I have to say that my insomnia has made me question whether or not I can have another. I think that is so ridiculous but I think that way sometimes. My current issue has been aggitated by my daughter's sleeping pattern. Anyway, you seem to have a good handle on your insmnia and I wanted your thoughts.

Also, do you still have bad nights? And another thing, how did you apply your thought of "I'm not going to let the insomnia run my life"? I'll think that and then often times will find it hard to hold onto after several bad nights. Thanks for your help.
