Making progress

Posted by sleepy on January 24, 2005 at 13:32:21:

Hi,
I'd just like to advise all those insomniacs who haven't yet tried the behaviour modification technique SR to try it.

I was at my lowest ever last week, slept hardly at all and finally gave in and took a pil...never again, i got really bad nervous withdrawals the next day, i thought i was going insane.

Anyway, i somehow made it through the day and came home friday night to see that my book 'desperately seeking soozin' had arrived (thanks to this forum or i never would have known). I forced myself to stay awake until 1.30am (not easy after 3 hrs of drug induced sleep the night before, as many of you will know)and slept solidly until 7am. It's now Monday night and i've basically gone to bed and woken up at these exact times ever since and not had any trouble getting to sleep or waking up in the night.

i know it's very early days for me and i have to say it's not been easy to stay awake these last few nights... not to mention resisting the urge to nap on the couch - my house has never been so tidy! but i can't believe i've gone 3 whole nights without battling sleeplessness...especially on a sunday night.i'm optimistic for the first time in i don't know how long. it's so true that restricting your sleep like this takes away that horrible anxiety as bed time approaches.

i really do urge people to get this book, i read it cover to cover in the same evening..it SO makes sense.
DO IT!

Sleepy
