Seeking sleep,

Well, my problem manifested itself a little differently than yours seems to. My problem was getting to sleep initially. If I could just somehow GET to sleep, then even if I woke up 2 or 3 hours later, it seemed in my mind to be a minor victory...which in turn helped me relax even more. Of course, later in my recovery I seemed to develop a maintenance problem as well...and I battled with that for a long time. But my main problem was still the sleep onset issue.

How long have I had insomnia? It's been about 3 and half years now. I remember it started getting bad right at about the time the 'Osbournes' series made its debut. And I remember watching Ozzy seemingly effortlessly go to sleep on the couch. And I thought to myself, "look at this guy...he's on tons of medication, he's an alcoholic, an ex-drug user, he's got emotional problems, AND EVEN HE CAN SLEEP AT THE DROP OF A HAT!" And here I was, having absolutely everything going for me, with no other problems, and I'm sleepless for multiple nights on end. Quite discouraging.

However, there was a silver lining to that show:
I would often use Ozzy (as crazy and funny as he was) as something to think about once I got into bed. I would re-live those episodes over and over in my mind at night. And it was quite effective. Ozzy will never know it, but he helped me tremendously.
