One more thing,

As you acknowledged, reading some of the horror stories on here can make one very anxious. I was the same way. Soon I chose to avoid it all together, but that was just a choice I personally believed would be best for me. If you are easily stressed out by some of the posts on here, I'd be very careful. Some of them can put things in your head that will serve no good purpose. You have to realize that alot of people have underlying health, or physical, or emotional problems that contribute to their sleep issues....which often are not disclosed in their post.

You probably already know some of the recent posters who are mostly "safe" reads: Otis, DCTom, Nocturnally yours, Tomwithtwocats, Me, Chris, SleepyNJ etc. Some of the older good reads are by Hope, Hopestar, beth, lynne, Paul (be careful, there are 2 Pauls).
