If you read about the history of all the recovered folks that have posted in this forum, you will quickly realize that they have all had a really rough time. Things only got better when they found some program that helped them get better. For a vast majority CBT and SR have been the answer.

With regards to any meds you take to help you sleep, you already know that there is a possibility of psychological dependence. And I believe that the pscychological dependence is a contributor to the severe anxiety that you might feel. With that said, I do not think you should quit cold turkey. I think you should put a program together that will provide you with the tools you need to help you sleep better without the use of sleep meds.
