You mentioned OCD tendencies; remember that in times of stress or change, such as a breakup, those OCD tendencies will flair up. So remembering that and taking it in stide will already help to diminish the fear response.

A neat trick I have may help with this: you mentioned your fear as a "monster." Imagine the fear monsters and say to them, "OK, let's all go to bed now." That way, by acknowledging them, rather than fighting them, they lose their power.

And combining this with a trick of Tom-N-Texas, you can also say to yourself, "I can sleep despite these little monsters." But since you tend to sleep fine anyway, maybe you'd have to say something else to yourself, like, "despite these monsters, I still wake up every day safe and sound."
