Sometimes insomniacs say they sleep better
away from home. In their case maybe there's
some conditioned insomnia involved --
conditioned not to sleep in their normal
environment. My last trip out of town was
pretty awful. I was staying in a hotel
in L.A. where a film crew were shooting
til 5AM, and they were running up and down
the stairs next to my room. Kept waking me
up. But other than situations like that,
it doesn't seem to matter as far as quality
of sleep if I'm out of town. I've actually
slept better on some of these trips.
