My mother and sister and myself suffer from insomnia which convinced me it was due to some genetic abnormality --- this made recovery more difficult as I waited for some medical discovery to explain it!

Anyway I think my problem was low self esteem so I'd be awake before any social event. My mother is a born worrier, not sure about my sister but don't let the family link hold you back from finding an answer.
