How long have you been on Paxil? Insomnia and agitation are common side effects with SSRI's in the beginning and do go away with time. Doctors in fact usually prescribe an antianxiety med such as Ativan or Klonopin until the medicine kicks in.
Having said that, I'm on Zoloft because I had Post partum depression which took the form of severe insomnia/anxiety. After about 5 weeks, the anxiety is better, though not gone, the insomnia is not much better than before the Zoloft, I still need medication 2-3 times a week.
I'm going to try hypnosis/autogenic training with a reputable therapist as that has worked for me before for anxiety. I do not believe in SR therapy or CBT and I already practice good sleep hygene. My main problem is anxiety and self-hypnosis is really good for that.
