trazodone withdrawal

Posted by chrisa on May 27, 2005 at 10:20:51:

i have been taking trazodone for years as a sleep aid and recently decided, with my doctor, that i would like to see how i do on my own. my dose at night was 150 mgs and i was cutting my dose by 50 mgs every 4 weeks, i was down to 50 mgs and have been cutting my pills to make them 25 mgs, low and behold i cannot sleep. toss/turn, body aches and grouchiness now in the day. i know i will sleep on my own eventually, but how long will these side-effects last? i was sleeping well on 50 mgs still, but at 25 mgs, its hell. i may as well not take anything. also found that while on the stuff, i would be ravenously hungry about 20 mins after taking it. needless to say i put on weight. also we have been tapering my anti- depressant a little bit, (am having no trouble or rebound symptoms with that) because my blood pressure had sky rocketed. i just want to sleep like on the trazodone, but without it. will it be possible?
