Ativan causes insomnia?

I've had chonic insomnia since last August.I haven't had one good nights rest for many months. Every night I go to sleep between 4:30 and 5:00 get up at 7:15 and go to work.My doctor had put me on Ativan 16 years ago.8Mg's a day which he says now was way too much but that he didn't know that 16 years ago.He told me that the Ativan was causing the insomnia and hes tappering me off.It's hard but I'm doing it.Has anyone heard of Ativan causing insomnia when given at high does for many years? I've got to the place where I don't trust my doctor.I've been to 3 other doctors this year but none helped.Ambien did nothing.The new sleep product that come out in March did nothing.I pray that someday soon I'll be able to sleep and go to work and feel good again.
