Daughter trying to help: There is no simple answer here. But depression is a very serious thing. When we are depressed, we are not motivated, have no energy and just getting to work and home is a huge chore. But your Mom needs to go and get help. Interventions usually are very successful with alcoholics. Are there other children besides you? If there are, then all of them attending might work as long as it is done in a loving and concerned way. However, do keep in mind that it is hard to help someone when they are not willing to help themselves, because we cannot do it for them. But there is hope and there is all kinds of help out there. I wish you and your Mom well.
