I am not a doctor, but I would guess that it might be possible to effect his sleep for the next week. You say that he does get a little less anxious around day 5.

I was given Wellbutrin 150 long acting pills in an attempt to help my anxiety/insomnia. Those pills acted as a stimulant, and I got so wired up that I had to stop them. I felt that it took several days to get the effects totally out of my system.

I was lucky that I could make that decision to stop. I guess that if your life depends on taking those drugs, then you just have to do it regardless of side effects, but they are truly miserable.

Do keep after the doctor about possible ways to deal with these effects.

My thoughts will be with you.
