I totally agree. I used to take pills to sleep, and would still sleep only about 4 hours a night. Then I would feel terrible all day because of the residue of pills in my system.

Now when I sleep 4 hours a night, with no pills, I get by fine the next day--something I would have previously thought impossible.
And 5-6 hours of undruged sleep is heaven. I have never felt so good (2 months off pills), even when I sleep very little.

Your body does adjust. It has been interesting to learn to trust my body again: it will fall asleep on its own if I leave it alone (try not to get my brain involved, saying "you won't sleep, you can't, and what if...), and it will function OK on very little sleep.

All in all, though, this has been a journey I could have done without!
